How to get more Apple Cider Vinegar in your diet

We've heard all about the benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar. So how do we ensure we get our daily dose of ACV? Apart from drinking, ahem, more Tartly shrubs, here are 5 easy ways you can incorporate more ACV into your diet.

1. Add Apple Cider Vinegar into your stews and soup.

Vinegar helps to draw out minerals from bones. When you slow-cook your meat stews and soup with a splash of Apple Cider Vinegar, the nutrition will be amped up, giving you more bang for your buck.

2. Make your own vinegar-based salad dressings for a healthy, tasty salad option.

Making your own salad vinaigrette takes just a few minutes, but allows you to adjust the proportion of tartness and decide which healthy oils to use. Olive oil is a good standby, but also consider other healthy oils like avocado oil, flaxseed oil, and almond oil. These are chock full of Vitamin E (an antioxidant), alpha linolenic acid, and monounsaturated fat.

3. Roast vegetables with a mixture of Apple Cider Vinegar, Balsamic Vinegar, and olive oil.

The tartness of the vinegar complements the natural sweetness of vegetables as they caramelize in the oven. Try vegetables like carrots, onions, squash, peppers and zucchini to create a delicious and healthy side dish.

4. Add Apple Cider Vinegar to your smoothie.

If you are a smoothie fan, try this sweet and tart smoothie - blend together a banana, a handful of berries (like blueberries or strawberries), a drizzle of honey, 1 cup of apple juice, 1 tsp of Apple Cider Vinegar. What a power breakfast smoothie!

5. Apple Cider Vinegar goes well with baked beans.

For your next BBQ, before you bring out that pot of simmering baked beans, consider finishing it with a drizzle of Apple Cider Vinegar. The vinegar cuts through the heaviness of the beans, and will even help you digest your food in the event that you overindulge, which of course, never happens.

Finally, avoid taking a straight shot of Apple Cider Vinegar. It could damage your tooth enamel and esophagus. Try the above ways to get your daily quota of ACV instead! Or better yet, try one of our awesome Tartly Shrubs!
