The "secrets" of ginger

In parts of Asia, ginger is a beloved ingredient used for its warm, zingy, peppery flavor in stir fries and soups. But did you know that ginger has been used for its health properties for centuries among many cultures around the world?

First, the phenolic compounds in ginger are known to help relieve gastrointestinal irritation. Phenolic compounds, ubiquitous in plants, are an essential part of the human diet. In fact, pregnant women experiencing morning sickness, and cancer patients combating nausea during treatment are often advised to drink ginger tea or chew on ginger lozenges.

Additionally, studies have found that ginger aids with reducing inflammation throughout the body. A study published in the Cancer Prevention Research journal found that a ginger root supplement administered to volunteer participants reduced inflammation markers in the colon within a month.  Another study with 74 volunteers at the University of Georgia found that daily ginger supplementation reduced exercise-induced muscle pain by 25%. Even women experiencing severe pain during menstrual cycles reported improved pain symptoms while taking ginger capsules in a study.

We're not claiming all these benefits of ginger in our product. But all its awesome properties are why we use 100% real ginger juice in our Tartly Ginger Pear Shrub. We think ginger is one mighty ingredient that deserves to have its secrets unveiled. So, drink your ginger - it's good for you!
